1. Ear Surgeries

Types of Ear Surgeries Offered:

Tympanoplasty:

Surgical repair of the eardrum (tympanic membrane).

Performed when there’s a hole in the eardrum due to chronic ear infections or injury.

Mastoidectomy:

Removal of infected mastoid bone located behind the ear.

Necessary in severe chronic otitis media (middle ear infection) that spreads to bone.

Ossiculoplasty:

Myringotomy with Grommet Insertion:

Small tube placed in the eardrum to drain fluid and relieve pressure in cases of chronic middle ear effusion, especially in children.

2. Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure to reshape the nose, combining both aesthetic and functional goals. At Sushruth Hospital, we perform both cosmetic and reconstructive rhinoplasty.

Purposes of Rhinoplasty:

Cosmetic:

Enhance facial symmetry and appearance.

Correct size, bridge, or tip shape.

Fix nasal humps or wide nostrils.

Functional:

Improve breathing by correcting a deviated nasal septum.

Repair deformities caused by injury or congenital defects.

Procedure:

Can be open (external incision) or closed (internal incisions).

Usually performed under general anesthesia.

Requires careful planning, pre-surgical imaging, and follow-up.

3. Tonsillectomy

Chronic sore throat or bad breath.

Obstructive sleep apnea due to enlarged tonsils.

Difficulty swallowing or breathing, especially in children.

Peritonsillar abscess not responding to other treatments.

Procedure:

Done under general anesthesia.

Takes about 30–45 minutes.

Usually requires a day’s hospitalization and 7–10 days of rest.

4. Thyroidectomy

Thyroidectomy is the partial or complete removal of the thyroid gland. It is recommended when thyroid conditions are causing symptoms or posing health risks.

Conditions Requiring Thyroidectomy:

Thyroid nodules (benign or cancerous).

Multinodular goiter causing neck pressure or breathing/swallowing difficulty.

Graves’ disease or hyperthyroidism not responding to medication.

Thyroid cancer or suspected malignancy.

Types:

Total Thyroidectomy: Removal of the entire gland.

Hemi-Thyroidectomy (Lobectomy): Only one lobe of the thyroid is removed.

Completion Thyroidectomy: Done when part of the thyroid has already been removed.

Procedure & Recovery:

Performed under general anesthesia.

Incision made in the front of the neck.

Hospital stay: Usually 1–2 days.

Patients may need lifelong thyroid hormone replacement therapy after a total thyroidectomy.
